The Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Tajikistan reports that on July 16, 2024, the first repayment of government securities issued on January 17 of this year, amounting to 50.0 million somoni for a period of six months, was made. It should be noted that both principal and coupon/interest payments were made on time in accordance with the payment schedule. The income from the aforementioned issue totaled 2.0 million somoni.
Additionally, the next payment of coupons to holders of 12 and 24-month government securities was made, totaling 2.1 million somoni. The total amount of coupons paid over the past six months amounted to 2.7 million somoni.
We remind you that since January 2024, the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Tajikistan has been regularly conducting auctions of short-term and long-term government securities.

To date, six government securities auctions have been held for a total amount of 330.0 million somoni. The placement amount was 272.2 million somoni. The main investors are credit organizations and the savings insurance fund for individuals. Additionally, applications from individuals and non-banking sector companies were satisfied.
Anyone can purchase government securities, including foreign investors, through government securities trading participants. These participants can be a brokerage company or a bank of the client’s choice, with which an agreement is concluded for the purchase of government securities. Currently, the participants through which government securities can be purchased are:
• Brokerage company "Prime Invest";
• SUE SB RT "Amonatbonk";
• CJSC "International Bank of Tajikistan";
• CJSC "Development Bank of Tajikistan";
• OJSC "Alif Bank".
It should be noted that income received from the purchase and sale of government securities is not taxed. In the near future, government securities can be used in repo operations, allowing for quick borrowing, and it will also be possible to obtain loans from banks using government securities as collateral.
